As one of the first suppliers of shaft grounding in the automotive field, KACO offers a fast-growing product portfolio for wet and dry applications. In addition to the various basic designs of KACO shaft grounding rings, the modular design gives a wide range of possible customer applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The core of KACO’s grounding rings can be realized in numerous designs. The grounding ring itself can be installed individually, in standard housings or in customer-specific add-on housings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on the available space in the customer’s unit, single-track, double-track or multi-track contacting of the shaft can be implemented by suitable segmentation of the grounding disc. The simplest implementation is the arrangement of alternating short and long contact elements. This results in two or more contacting rings on the shaft. However, the nominal contacting wrap angle is the same as in the standard design with one length of contact elements (slightly less than 360\u00b0). By cleverly dividing the grounding disk, a double T-shape design can be implemented in which the nominal wrap angle can be just under 700\u00b0 on the basis of an initial disk. Other designs, such as the U-shape design, optimize the contact surface of the contact elements themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are pleased to see a very high level of customer interest in our KACO grounding solutions. As it turns out, customers and suppliers are constantly acquiring new knowledge together in the context of electric drives. We made a commitment early on to provide the best possible solutions for rotor shaft grounding. Our work is bearing fruit as we can see from the numerous series orders we have won based on standard and customer-specific solutions. Particularly noteworthy is the possible variance based on our starting element in the form of a conductive PTFE disc. With our double T-shape design, we achieve resistance values that are almost constantly low over runtime when performed 8,000 hours durability tests. We are also in series preparations with the first customers in the field of wet applications (oil-cooled rotors). The international roll-out of the product is in full process and, as usual for KACO, we are working at full speed on further innovative solutions in the overall context of shaft grounding.” says Andreas Genesius, Vice President Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
