Leak tests on shaft seals for CO2 refrigerant compressors

Due to their specific design, mechanical seals are well suited to dynamic shaft seals on refrigerant compressors for CO2 air-conditioning units (R744). A mechanical seal from Kaco Dichtungstechnik GmbH is now ready for series-production and is currently being tested by almost every compressor manufacturer around the world. It has successfully completed a number of fleet trials and it meets all the criteria listed in the specifications. The available results provide proof that shaft seals for CO2 refrigerant compressors are feasible.
