PTFE discs made by KACO
PTFE discs are used almost everywhere where dynamic sealing systems are required, for example in the crankshaft, camshaft or gearbox. PTFE washer production was industrialised at the Kirchardt plant in 2015/16 and relocated to the Anhui branch in 2018. There we have the possibility to produce our own PTFE discs in series for the production facilities in Anhui and Wuxi. Currently, KACO is also producing samples for e-mobility applications (shaft grounding ring) for European plants.
The production consists of three steps:
- Pressing of the PTFE compound (produced by well-known manufacturers according to our recipe) into so-called “green compacts” on modern presses.
- Sintering of the semi-finished products

In-house production has many advantages for KACO and its customers. On the one hand, we make ourselves largely independent of the delivery performance of other manufacturers. We can also react more quickly to large fluctuations in customer orders. In addition, KACO can expand its know-how in the area of PTFE sealing systems in-house. And that’s not all: it also gives us the opportunity to specifically influence and develop the technical properties of the sealing elements, for example with regard to friction reduction. We are also always at the source of our own experience for the development of solutions in new business fields, such as e-mobility (e.g. battery venting).
