Individual sealing solutions are one of KACO’s core competencies. Our precision sealing systems are predominantly customised solutions that we design precisely according to the specific requirements and demands of the respective installation site and application. As an innovation driver, it is a matter of course for KACO to constantly implement new, trend-setting solutions that offer our customers measurable added value and reduce the burden on our environment.

Our experts for all high-performance elastomers do not ensure the ideal performance of the compound in the application and are involved from the outset in developing individual compounds for new applications with customers. KACO also helps solve material problems or improve specific properties.

Our material specialists help to find the ideal processing properties at an optimal price-performance ratio for customised compounds. They are supported by testing equipment and state-of-the-art facilities to produce trial mixes. At the same time, they further develop tests and adapt them for specific applications. Our experts are not only involved in all innovations, but also accompany new applications from development to series production.

The close and cooperative partnership with our suppliers guarantees our expertise in sealing materials, so that our rubber compounds meet the highest quality standards.

Elastomers from our mixing plant

KACO develops high-performance elastomers according to customer specifications and market requirements. We develop the materials not only for ourselves, but also for other elastomer processors. All high-performance elastomers are manufactured in our own mixing plant to the highest quality standards.

FKM: First choice for shaft seals

KACO’s portfolio of FKM materials includes bisphenol- and peroxide-cured grades with glass transition points from – 4 °C to – 40 °C for static and dynamic applications in the hardness range from 50 to 90 Shore A. The upper temperature limit is over + 200 °C.  The materials can be processed in CM, TM and IM processes as well as in cold runner and needle closure systems. Their main areas of application are shaft seals in engines, fuel pumps and gearboxes.

ACM: Proven in static and dynamic sealing systems

KACO offers various ACM compounds in a hardness range from 65 to 80 Shore A and a thermal application range from – 30 °C to + 150 °C. Three new HT-ACM compounds extend the application range to – 35 °C to + 170 °C. Of course, these materials can also be processed in all known manufacturing processes – including cold runner and valve gate. These high-performance elastomers are used for static and dynamic sealing systems.

AEM (VAMAC): Easy to process

AEM materials are available from KACO in hardness ranges from 60 to 90 Shore A. Their oil resistance and glass transition points vary according to requirements. They can be processed very well in modern manufacturing processes. All AEM materials from KACO are DOTG-free. They are mainly used in so-called “gear pistons” and in static sealing systems.

HNBR: Fully hydrogenated and peroxide cured

KACO’s HNBR materials are fully hydrogenated and peroxide cross-linked and offer impressive ozone resistance. The materials are available in a temperature range from -40 °C to +135 °C and in hardness ranges from 50 to 90 Shore A. The HNBR materials are used in sealing systems of the vehicle cooling system, in power steering systems and in the air intake and exhaust management of engines.

PTFE compounds: Special developments

For many years, RWDR with PTFE lip have replaced the classic FPM RWDR mainly in the crankshaft and camshaft area. Together with a leading PTFE compounder, KACO has developed several PTFE materials for this application. Furthermore, a PTFE compound is available for sealing systems in fuel pumps.

NBR: Special know-how in all areas

For the sealing expert, NBR materials stand for very good media resistance. The material offers a hardness range from 60 to 90 Shore A and a thermal application range from -40 to +100°C. This makes them suitable for use as shock absorber seals or washing machine seals, among other applications.
